It follows the fatal police shooting of Anthony McClain on Saturday, as well as the release of video footage of the deadly encounter on Thursday, Aug. 27.Kennedy said he expected the meeting would be well attended.“My view is that there will be hundreds of people who will want to participate on that Zoom call to ask questions, to learn more about various facts, etcetera,” Kennedy said. As the community grieves, it can be important to talk, he said.“One of the areas in grief counseling is to just simply have the ability to talk to people about how you feel about what has caused the grief. And it gives the community an opportunity to just simply ask a question of the decision-makers of the city.”Kennedy said he was withholding judgment until all the facts are known. But at the same time, “I pressed hard for the video to be released quickly, so the community would know that there is transparency in the police department and in the city.”Those interested can register in advance for the online discussion at us02web.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_btiUuUz5S867aP522egh7g. Once registered, confirmation emails will be sent with additional instructions on joining the meeting.Questions can be submitted in advance to [email protected] Government Councilmember Kennedy to Host Online Forum With Police Chief, City Manager By BRIAN DAY and DAVID CROSS Published on Friday, August 21, 2020 | 3:59 pm EVENTS & ENTERTAINMENT | FOOD & DRINK | THE ARTS | REAL ESTATE | HOME & GARDEN | WELLNESS | SOCIAL SCENE | GETAWAYS | PARENTS & KIDS Subscribe Community News CITY NEWS SERVICE/STAFF REPORT Pasadena Will Allow Vaccinated People to Go Without Masks in Most Settings Starting on Tuesday Business Newslast_img read more
