Ohio Ag Weather and Forecast, January 4, 2019

Ohio Ag Weather and Forecast, January 4, 2019

first_imgShare Facebook Twitter Google + LinkedIn Pinterest It’s a tale of north vs. south today. In the north, we expect no precipitation today, and we should see a mix of clouds and sun. In the south, we have clouds building through the day, and precipitation starts to work into southwest OH closer to this evening. h. From there action spreads up to the I-70 corridor, and rain totals from the event will be from .1”-.5” from I-70 southward. As we mentioned yesterday, we may have to watch for some of the moisture to sneak north of I-70 in eastern Ohio, but it still is mostly a southern rain event. The weekend is dry, both Saturday and Sunday. Clouds will mix with sun both days, but clouds will increase quickly Sunday afternoon. A cold front sweeps through the state from the northwest Monday, and has the potential to bring .1”-.7” of rain with 90% coverage. The map at right is a snapshot of the potential set up late Monday afternoon. This moisture will linger into early Tuesday morning. Clouds dominate the rest of the day Tuesday, but should yield some sun late. We will be partly sunny and dry at midweek next week for Wednesday and Thursday. Temps will be above normal still. We have some changes to the forecast this morning for late next week. Precipitation moves back in for Friday and continues through Saturday. A large part of the moisture will be rain, but we may bookend the system with snow. Precipitation may start as snow in northwest Ohio next Friday before turning to rain, and then later Saturday afternoon as cold air returns behind the front, we look for rain to end as snow with minor accumulations over a large part of the state. We won’t rule out a coating to 2” in spots This system has plenty of time to change, but looks to be a much bigger player in the pattern as mother nature shifts to a much colder pattern for the second half of the month. We will stay cloudy for next Sunday and look for a bit of light snow and flurries. There should not be any serious accumulation, but we will see strong winds, creating some blowing snow potential along with lower wind chills. The extended period starts off dry, but chilly. Our next system arrives for the 16th and 17th. There can be some rain in southern Ohio, but a large part of the state will see cold enough air to create a good snow storm. There can be significant accumulations out of that system. We follow it up with more cold air but should dry down for the 18th and 19th.last_img read more
