Fort Lauderdale’s comeback from the housing bust in particular has been considerable. Seasonally adjusted home prices reached nearly $240,000 this past quarter, up nearly 12 percent from a year ago. Home prices are now at their highest level since 2007. However, they remain 17.6 percent below their prior peak, “leaving plenty of room for growth,” the report stated.Similarly, existing home prices in Palm Beach County are 10.5 percent higher than a year ago; Tampa’s economic expansion is moving forward as payrolls are up 3.1 percent year-over year; Orlando’s sales are up 4.7 percent year-over-year, nearing pre-recession numbers; and Las Vegas sales are 15 percent higher than a year ago, and now at an all-time high of 5.9 percent-above its prior peakOn the flip side, once rock-solid markets have been slow on the recovery.”This quarter’s report is a strong reminder of how uneven the housing recovery has been, with strong performance by cities in the South, Southeast, West and Pacific Northwest, and much weaker trends in the Northeast and Midwest,” Sharga said. IAAF World Championships: ‘Medal Hopeful’ Okagbare Misses Out On 100m Final

first_imgNigeria’s medal hopeful, Blessing Okagbare missed out on a berth in the Women’s 100m final on Sunday. The Moscow double medallist on Day 3 of the IAAF World Championships taking place in London, came short in a very tough field in Heat 2, clocking 11.08s to finish 4th behind Tori Bowie in 1st, Murielle Ahoure 2nd and Michelle Lee-Ahye in 3rd.It was always going to be difficult for the National champion against the likes of Ahoure and Bowie who have clocked sub 11 seconds on several occasions in the season. Okagbare’s 11.08s was bettered by 11.07s posted by Trinidad and Tobago’s Kelly Ann Baptiste who nicked the fastest loser slot into the final. This is a step backwards from her appearance at the 2015 World Championships in Beijing where she placed 8th due to an hamstring injury.Okagbare will now shift her focus to the 200m event which begins with the heats on Tuesday.Late arrival to London didn’t stop Nigeria’s 400m National champion, Patience Okon George along with Yinka Ajayi and Margaret Bamgbose from qualifying from their various 400m heats into the semi finals on Monday.
