WELCOME FOR €40,000 ALLOCATION FOR FANAD LIGHTHOUSE AND SWILLY FERRY

first_imgAn allocation of €40,000 has been made to the Lough Swilly Ferry and Fanad Lighthouse through Donegal County Council Strategic Project Allocations.Fanad Lighthouse. The allocation has been welcomed by Minister Joe McHugh TD, and Cllr. Jimmy Kavanagh.Minister of State McHugh said the allocation of €20,000 each is a very welcome announcement, for both the Lough Swilly Ferry Service and for Fanad Lighthouse. “The Lough Swilly Ferry Service wasn’t in operation last year due to financial difficulties and challenges with passenger numbers, forcing the service to become commercially unviable. Since then, a lot of work has taken place behind the scenes between the various groups on the Rathmullan to Buncrana Ferry Service, myself and Cllr. Jimmy Kavanagh, and we are hopeful that this financial commitment will help encourage and facilitate a positive outcome.“The Fanad Lighthouse Company has been working extremely hard over the last number of years towards the development at the lighthouse, as well as the promotion of tourism in Fanad and the surrounding areas. I am delighted that their persistence has been recognised in their successful application to the Strategic Fund Initiative. These funds will enable the continued progress of their preparation of the Lighthouse as a leading Tourism centre.Cllr. Jimmy Kavanagh also welcomed the news.“€200,000 was distributed yesterday under the Strategic Development Fund, with over 100 local projects and groups being funded, and we are delighted that both the Lough Swilly Ferry Service and Fanad Lighthouse were included in the allocation. Both projects are hugely important in promoting tourism in North Donegal, and play a vital role in being part of the Wild Atlantic Way, and I believe this announcement will be to the benefit of both projects.”  WELCOME FOR €40,000 ALLOCATION FOR FANAD LIGHTHOUSE AND SWILLY FERRY was last modified: April 16th, 2015 by StephenShare this:Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window)Click to share on Telegram (Opens in new window)Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)Click to share on Skype (Opens in new window)Click to print (Opens in new window)last_img read more
