Axed Chelsea star poor form put down to split from stunning girlfriend

first_img Kepa’s friends and family reportedly believe the Spain star is “suffering quite badly” from the “recent” break-up with his glamorous girlfriend of nine years, Andrea Perez. SunSport reported earlier today the world’s most expensive No1 was “shocked” to be dropped by Blues’ boss Frank Lampard – but is “determined” to win back his place ahead of this summer’s Euro 2020. Now respected Spanish daily El Mundo claim the 25-year-old personal life is one reason for his dip in form. He did post a holiday shot from a tropical beach last summer – but of himself sitting alone. El Mundo say: “Those close to him are clear about one of the main reasons for his drop in form, his recent split with his long-term girlfriend.” They add: “His partner went with him to London when he left his former club Athletic Bilbao and had been his rock until the relation ended. Axed Chelsea keeper, Kepa Arrizabalaga’s dodgy displays have been blamed on splitting from his childhood sweetheart. Loading… Andrea, who was 25 when Kepa signed for Chelsea, reportedly closed her Instagram account after sparking rumours he was heading for Real Madrid rather than London. And on the pitch this season, he has rarely looked at his sharpest. Stats for January outed Kepa as the least successful stopper in the Premier League when it comes to his overall save percentage. In fact, he let in 32 goals in just 24 Prem matches this term, persuading Lampard to omit him for Saturday’s 2-2 draw at Leicester. Kepa and Perez were famed on Instagram for exotic snaps of their travels, including in their swimwear on exclusive beaches. read also:Lampard in battle with Chelsea to sell Kepa ahead of Pope move But the last time £71million Kepa uploaded a photo of the couple together was the month before he joined Chelsea in August 2018. Mid-level health professionals for SA

Mid-level health professionals for SA

first_imgThe programme was conceived after a long process of consultation and extensive international studies. Registration of qualified clinical associates will rest with the Medical and Dental Board of the Health Professions Council of South Africa, while their training will be conducted in district hospitals and their affiliate facilities, which will serve to strengthen primary health care services in the country. The programme does not replace any existing medical training offered at South Africa’s universities, but aims to enable universities to increase the number of health workers they produce and thus add to the pool and diversity of the country’s health workforce. It started in January 2008 and is currently offered at the Walter Sisulu University (former the University of Transkei) and University of Pretoria. It will commence at the University of the Witwatersrand and University of Limpopo (Medunsa Campus) in 2009. Speaking at the launch of the programme in Umtata in the Eastern Cape on Tuesday, Health Minister Tshabalala-Msimang said community health centres and district hospitals would benefit from the programme by receiving more health workers. Source: BuaNewscenter_img Qualified clinical associates are able to assess patients, make diagnoses, prescribe appropriate treatments, and undertake minor surgical procedures under the supervision of medical officers. The Walter Sisulu University in Mthatha has selected 23 clinical associate students for the three-year Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Clinical Practice. South Africa’s Department of Health has launched a three-year clinical associate programme designed to produce a new category of mid-level health professionals in the country. 20 August 2008last_img read more

first_imgAjeet Bajaj, Managing Director, Snow Leopard AdventuresIt was the summer of 1986 and a moment of truth for me. I had just completed my graduation from St. Stephen’s College, Delhi and was at the most significant crossroads of my life. The perplexing question before me was whether I should follow the prime passion of my life and opt for a career in adventure sports or go the more conservative way and get a ‘real’ job.In the 80s, adventure sports in India were still at a nascent stage. Most people here considered adventure sports as nothing more than ‘daredevilry’. There was no well-defined government policy or guidelines for adventure tourism and, in the pre-liberalisation era, adventure sports equipment was extremely hard to come by. Many regions of the Himalayas were not only unsafe for adventure activities but also almost impossible to get to. There was also a lot of red-tape involved for overseas mountaineering expeditions to India, even by the ’80s standards. Even getting contour maps was tough. The scenario has changed drastically since then and Indian adventure tourism is on an upswing. According to industry estimates, domestic adventure tourism is seeing an annual growth of about 30 per cent while inbound adventure tourism to India is increasing by up to eight to 10 per cent annually. Unofficial figures say that we have over one million adventure tourists in India every year.Though adventure tourism has come a long way in the last decade or so, a lot of ground still needs to be covered. Matters like the use of satellite phones by adventure tour operators in the course of their work need to be resolved. Tourism being a state subject, there is need for a national adventure tourism policy that is endorsed by all the states. Some operators in the far-flung regions of the country still have to adhere to national and international benchmarks in safety and adopt the good field practices that are advocated by the Global Sustainable Tourism Criteria.India’s topography holds out great prospects for adventure tourismThe Indian adventure travel fraternity, which is a 200-member community, represented by the Adventure Tour Operators’ Association of India, strongly feels that India has the potential of becoming a global hotspot for adventure and ecotourism. The industry is working in close cooperation with the Ministry of Tourism to harness this potential in a sensitive manner and to take Indian adventure tourism quite literally to the summit. At present, there are no tailormade courses for adventure tourism in India. The best course of action for those keen on a career in adventure tourism, in my opinion, would be to finish their graduation and follow it up with an MBA in Tourism Administration from the Indian Institute of Tourism and Travel Management, apart from which there are numerous universities-like the Himachal University, the Kurukshetra University-that offer a Master’s programme in Tourism Administration. While in college it would be equally important to immerse fully into adventure sports. There are a number of clubs, institutions (like the Youth Hostels’ Association of India) and commercial outfitters offering trekking, wildlife activities and river rafting trips and it would be ideal to gain as much experience as possible as well as test your resolve and commitment about getting into adventure tourism. It is also worth looking at the adventure and mountaineering courses offered by Nehru Institute of Mountaineering, Uttarkashi; Himalayan Mountaineering Institute, Darjeeling; and Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Mountaineering and Allied Sports, Manali. These courses are subsidised for Indian nationals and the level of instruction and the overall experience is rated high. The Indian Institute of Skiing and Mountaineering in Gulmarg also comes highly recommended for skiing and adventure training. I would like to emphasise the importance of physical fitness here. If you are not physically fit, you could still consider an office job in adventure tourism but definitely not field work. Some North American and New Zealand universities offer allied courses such as Adventure Tourism and Outdoor Recreation and Diploma in Adventure Tourism Management. The ideal way to get going would be with a professional, Government of India, Ministry of Tourism-recognised adventure tour operator. There is need for a rather lengthy apprenticeship in adventure tourism due to concerns of safety and professional guest handling. In terms of emolument, the industry is more passion-driven than moneydriven; although in the present scenario, it is possible to make a decent living in the field.I was extremely fortunate in that I got tremendous support from my parents and family and took a decision to follow my heart. I am passionate about my profession and completely believe in the saying-‘if your hobby and profession are the same, you do not work for a single day. There is no better office than ‘the great outdoors’. I am fortunate to have taken the right decision.Snow Leopard Adventures Pvt Ltd, is India’s first certified adventure travel outfit that organises adventure tours in the Indian Subcontinent. Confident Sindhu says Chinese shuttlers are beatable

Confident Sindhu says Chinese shuttlers are beatable

first_imgSaina Nehwal and P.V. Sindhu (right) are India’s best medal hopes at the Incheon Asian Games. The badminton world Championships in Copenhagen has given fresh boost to those trying to challenge the longstanding Chinese dominance in the sport, and India’s P.V. Sindhu will be eager to land a telling blow at the upcoming Incheon Asian Games. Despite boasting of the top three players in women’s singles, China failed to land the women’s singles title at the World Championships for the second year running with Ratchanok Intanon and now Carolina Marin claiming the honour. Though Sindhu will be disappointed at not improving on her bronze medal from Guangzhou 2013, she would be confident that the Chinese girls are far from unbeatable. Sindhu herself had beaten Li Xuerui on the latter’s home turf at the China Masters in 2012 just two months after the Chinese had won the gold medal at the London Olympics. This was not an isolated upset. Last year, as a rank outsider, Sindhu beat Wang Yihan, the then defending champion and another title favourite Wang Shix-ian at the World Championships.Last week too, she got the better of All England Champion Shixian against whom the Indian now enjoys a 4-2 head-to-head advantage. “The Chinese players are very good but they are beatable. I have never felt that they are in a totally different class. It is tough against them as there are so many of them but they can crack too,” Sindhu told MAIL TODAY.With two back-to-back bronze medals (Commonwealth Games and World Championships), Sindhu will be pumped up for the Asian Games where she will be a top contender given her recent form.advertisementShixian is the defending champion, and the fact that Sindhu has denied her the world title twice will not be lost on the Chinese team.Sindhu has been able to instill fear in the minds of the Chinese players. She has mixed her aggressive style and deception to outsmart them.”You have to be aggressive against them and that’s my style too. I keep improving all the time. You have to bring variety into your game,” the Hyderabadi said. The Chinese are quick to identify a potential threat and find ways to counter it, but Sindhu has been able to throw surprises at them. India has so far won seven bronze medals in badminton at the Asian Games and with both Sindhu and Saina Nehwal in fray, expectations will be high for a better medal this time. However, Saina, who has beaten Chinese players in the past, has struggled against them recently. Sindhu has been playing nonstop this year and has appeared in 14 tournaments. It remains to be seen how much she has left in the tank. She was one of the top performers when India won the bronze medal at the Uber Cup team championships in New Delhi. Physically, Sindhu has improved leaps and bounds which has resulted in her winning several long matches this year. If anything, consistency has been a concern but with more success coming her way, the future looks bright.last_img read more

Replacement Commissioners from Canada UK unable to quell TCI crime draws comment

Replacement Commissioners from Canada UK unable to quell TCI crime draws comment

first_img#MagneticMediaNews Facebook Twitter Google+LinkedInPinterestWhatsApp Turks and Caicos, June 26th 2017 – Providenciales –   A Police Commissioner from Canada could not do it.  A Police Commissioner from the UK cannot do it and that must mean, says former Deputy Commissioner of Police, Hubert Hughes, too much was expected of former Commissioner Edward Hall and his team when it was there turn at the helm.  In a detailed comment to Magnetic Media, Hughes who returned to his home of Anguilla after serving many years as second in command of the TCI Police Force said what is happening now is unfortunate and disappointing but points to a recurring problem of limited resources which he believes was exacerbated by top cops who are gravely unfamiliar with the lay of the land. “I was once told by a former British senior police officer that he cannot come to Turks and Caicos Island and tell the local police how to police the Turks and Caicos Islands because of his lack of local knowledge. In addition one of them admitted to me that the first time he saw a kilo of cocaine is when he came to TCI in charge of the criminal investigation drug squad. Policing an archipelago like Turks and Caicos  requires a Command team with good local knowledge of the environment, national culture and subcultures of the different island and families, and good human investigation management training and skills . It calls for a great deal of knowledge on how to police the air, land and sea in order to control gun crime in particular.”Hughes adds that no information to the Police about crime simply means that something is lacking in the relationship between public and police; he said key is mutual respect. “Respect will lead to shared values to improve public confidence in the force. Shared values will lead to trust. Without trust no one will speak to the police in confidence. In order to prevent and detect crime the level of trust within the ranks of the force must be high as well. I’m not convinced if that is the case within the RTCIPF at the moment.”  The former DCP was not only offering constructive criticism, he offered a way forward and penned, “My approach to such a situation would be to divide crimes in the following four categories: exploitive crimes, mutualistic crimes, competitive crimes and individual crimes.”Hughes explained that exploitive crimes, like the shooting of Kevin Newman of Alabama on Friday, should get the most resources, while individualistic crimes, like having a joint, should get the least amount of attention.   Related Items:#magneticmedianews, 3 Facebook Twitter Google+LinkedInPinterestWhatsApplast_img read more

Nodejs and JS Foundations are now merged into the OpenJS Foundation

Nodejs and JS Foundations are now merged into the OpenJS Foundation

first_imgLast year in October, the Node.js and JS Foundations announced their intent to create a joint organization. After six months of analyzing community feedback, deliberation, and collaboration, the two foundations finally merged into the OpenJS Foundation on Tuesday. Dave Methvin, Technical Advisory Committee Chair, JS Foundation, explaining the motivation behind this merger said in the announcement, “This is an exciting step forward for the entire open source JavaScript community, as it strengthens the impact of our collective efforts under one united Foundation. A new merged Foundation is able to better serve the community and members to grow the JavaScript ecosystem from a technology and standards perspective.” The OpenJS Foundation is backed by 30 corporate and end-user members including Google, Microsoft, IBM, PayPal, and GoDaddy. It currently hosts a wide range of projects including Appium, Dojo, jQuery, Node.js, webpack, and many more. Goals of the OpenJS Foundation Providing resources and accelerating the development The OpenJS Foundation is responsible for expanding the JavaScript community and accelerating the development of JavaScript and other key ecosystem projects. It will provide financial and marketing resources to support projects and working groups. It will act as one stop for all projects within the open JavaScript community for fulfilling their infrastructure, technical, and marketing needs. Combined governance structure The merger will provide a combined governance structure to enable all projects, regardless of their sizes, to benefit from experienced mentors as they progress through the project life cycle. It will encourage collaboration across the JavaScript ecosystem and affiliated standard bodies to create a single home for any project in the JavaScript ecosystem. Improved membership experience The OpenJS Foundation brings together the goals of both the JavaScript and Node.js foundations, so companies or organizations that want to support JavaScript will no longer have to choose between the two. This will also eliminate the operational redundancies between the two organizations and streamline the experience for member companies that provide financial support. Additionally, it will provide a single point of entry to new and prospective members for getting involved in open source JavaScript project and create a simpler and more engaging experience for them. Many Twitter users were excited about this announcement and believe that this a major step towards the overall growth of the JavaScript open source ecosystem.
