Weencourage inquiries from candidates who will contribute to thediversity of our College, including its cultural and ethnicdiversity.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent in education andexperience0-3 years of relevant experience; experience in highereducation preferredOutstanding oral and written communication skillsStrong, self-motivated work ethic, high energy, and competitivespiritAppreciation for the value of a liberal arts education and ofdiverse cultures, backgrounds, and experiencesMust possess creative initiative, flexibility, and ability toexercise discretionProven ability to work both independently and collaborativelyas a member of a diverse communityValid driver’s license required and must meet the College’sFleet Safety Policy requirementsWillingness to travel by air is required at the time of hiringand throughout the term of employment QUALIFICATIONS: Evaluate admissions and financial aid application materials andprovide recommendations for first-year and transfer applicantsDirect the recruitment of students from an assigned geographicregion, leading outreach and engagement efforts and traveling tohigh schools, community-based organizations, recruitment events,and college fairs approximately 7-10 weeks annuallyManage a portfolio of admissions counselor projects, utilizingqualitative and quantitative data to inform strategic planning,decision-making, and implementation effortsLead group information sessions, conduct professionaldevelopment workshops, and advise students, families, andcounselors on Colby’s admissions and financial aid processesParticipate in implementing the general activities of theOffice of Admissions and Financial AidPerform additional duties as assigned; duties,responsibilities, and activities may change at any time with orwithout notice KEY RELATIONSHIPS:The admissions counselor/assistant director of admissions hassignificant interaction with prospective students and theirfamilies, faculty, staff, and external constituents.WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS :General open office and campus environment. Position involvessitting, although frequent movement is necessary. Computer usageinvolving repetitive hand/wrist motion is also necessary. Severalweeks of domestic travel and frequent evening and weekend workrequired throughout the year.
