first_imgMelbourne’s popular Australia Day concert has moved to the Sidney Myer Music Bowl, with the traditional blend of cultures, musical traditions and surprises. This year’s theme – What’s in your Suitcase? – will feature the Manasis School of Greek Dance and Culture with over 50 dancers of the senior dance group performing a medley of Greek dances for the crowd. The show will bring together over 600 performers all exploring the metaphoric element of the suitcase. The stage will be transformed into an enormous suitcase, reflecting the theme of travel, transition and migration. The concert will also feature Sergei Golovko, the 4844 Gallon Drums – The Rhythm of Africa, the Australian Percussion Academy, Burundian Drummers, the Brass Fanfare Team, Capoeira Muzenza, Mahindra Bali, Sounds of Polynesia, Fuefukuro, the Lopit Cultural Group, Kud Dukat , Russian Kossack Dancers, Manasis Dance, Melbourne Tap Dance, and a 250 person chorus comprising of many of Melbourne’s Choirs including the Brimbank Multicultural Community Choir, Divas of Sunbury, Harambee, Melton Melody Makers, Newport Choir, The Red Rock Christian College Choir, Sunbury Kidz, Topmen, Thecho!r conducted by Jonathon Welch and Adam Przewlocki and the InterACT Band and more. A huge, interactive finale takes the audience by the hand in favourite sing-a longs before the annual grand fireworks light up the Melbourne skyline. What’s in your suitcase? is on Thursday 26 January at 7:00 pm at the Sidney Myer Music Bowl, Kings Domain, Melbourne. Admission is free to get their early with your family to secure a great spot.
